Under the theme “Musical aesthetics / Philosophy of music as a research area in Brazilian universities: a brief approach”, a new session of the Permanent Seminar of the Philosophy Group (CEFH) was held on October 20, 2017, from 11 am to 13h, at the Faculty of Philosophy and Social Sciences (FFCS-UCP). The Seminar was given by Prof. Dr. Lia Vera Tomás, from UNESP (Brazil).
Prof. Dr. Lia Tomás, PhD in Music Aesthetics (UNESP), held the Seminar as a Visiting Researcher at CEFH, in the context of a research project funded by FAPESP, Brazil, in the field of aesthetics and philosophy of music. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Music (Piano) from the UNESP -Instituto de Artes (1985), a Masters and PhD in Communication and Semiotics from PUCSP (1993 and 1998), and two Post-Doctorates in Musical Aesthetics (Université de Paris I-Institut d’Esthétique et des Sciences de l’Art) (2001 and 2003). She coordinated the Post-Graduation Program in Music at UNESP – Arts Institute from 2007 to 2013 (two administrations) and was 1st Secretary of ANPPOM (National Association of Research and Post-Graduation in Music) from 2008 to 2011. She is currently a full member of the University Council of UNESP and the Congregation of the Institute of Arts. Coordinates the DeMusica: Laboratory of Studies in Musical Aesthetics and DeMusica: Laboratório de Estudos em Estética Musical e Filosofia da Música (Projeto CNPq).
Moderated by Prof. Dr. Yolanda Espiña (CEFH), the Seminar aimed at FFCS faculty and students, and it was also open to all interested researchers.
