Biographical note and Research Interests

José Cândido de Oliveira Martins is PhD in Humanities with a specialization in Theory of Literature. Teaches at the Faculty of Philosophy and Social Sciences of the Portuguese Catholic University; and researches in the areas of Modern and Contemporary Portuguese Literature, Comparative Literature and Theory of Literature. Coordinator of some courses in this area, 1st, 2nd and 3rd Cycles. He dedicated special attention to projects for the editing of several works (with critical study, fixation of the text and notes) by relevant authors of Portuguese Literature, such as Diogo Bernardes, Camilo Castelo Branco and António Feijó. He is an integrated member of the CEFH, in the Line of Research “Memory and literary dialogues”, paying special attention to the research of intertextual and comparative nature. In this perspective, he guided Master’s and PhD theses; participated in several international congresses in several countries; has published several articles in national and international magazines; co-organized several thematic volumes. He is also a member of the Board of Direction of the International Association of Lusitanistas (AIL), headed by Roberto Vecchi (Univ. Of Bologna), being Editor in charge of Platform 9.
