Biographical note and Research Interests

With a PhD in Information and Communication Sciences at the University Paris 2 (Panthéon-Assas, 2006) and a Licence in Religious Sciences (UCP-Braga, 1998), he is Assistant Professor in the Faculty of Philosophy and Social Sciences (UCP-Braga), since 2010. He was also Assistant in Media’s Sociology, at the Institut Français de Presse (Paris, 2001/03), Associated Researcher at the “Laboratoire de Communication et Politique” (CNRS, 2007/2010) and Guest Lecturer at the University Blaise Pascal (Clermont-Ferrand, 2011/2018). In 2009/2010, he directed a joint project between the “Misericórdia of Paris” and the Portugal Embassy/Ministry of Foreign Affairs, with funding from the EU, as part of the European Year for Combating Poverty and Social Exclusion. He is a specialist in Sociology of the media reception studies, migrations and qualitative methodologies. He is the author about thirty publications in national and international journals and books. His PhD thesis, was published by Presses Universitaires de Rennes (2009), Les Portugais de France vis-à-vis leur télévision. “Médias, migrations et enjeux identitaires” was awarded with the Honorable mention of the National Research Award of “l’Inathèque de France” (2009).
